Student data privacy is a top priority at Battle Ground Public Schools, so we take careful measures to ensure that student information is collected, used, and shared responsibly. We work closely with vendors to establish legally binding agreements that protect student information and ensure it is in compliance with state and federal laws.
Some vendors will advertise that they are FERPA or COPPA compliant, that they have signed the Student Privacy Pledge, or display badges such as those for iKeepSafe. Badges are helpful indicators, but they are not substitutes for a signed data privacy agreement with our district. Staff should always confirm that a vendor is on our approved agreements list before using the tool with students.
Please remember, this process can take time, as each agreement must be carefully reviewed and signed so staff interested in utilizing new resources are encouraged to begin the process as far ahead of time as possible. If a vendor has already signed a data privacy agreement with another Washington school district, we may be able to “piggyback” on that agreement to expedite the process. Our commitment to protecting student information is outlined in Board Policy and Procedure 3235: Protection of Student Information, which guides our practices and ensures that all student data is handled securely and ethically.
For staff convenience, please refer to the table below for a current list of approved vendor agreements already in place. This resource can help you determine whether an application or service is ready for use, or if additional steps may be required.
