Throughout all grade levels in our district we REQUIRE that our students receive digital citizenship lessons. We have designed our scope and sequence by grade level, and have pulled our curriculum from Common Sense Media, an organization that has been around and well-trusted for many years.
If you are a teacher-librarian, a homeroom teacher, or an educator that works with students and technology, please review the list of lessons posted here. Keep in mind that our teacher-librarians are responsible for ensuring these lessons are taught to all; please feel free to check in with the librarian at your site regarding the delivery of these lessons.

Our goal is to help teachers develop their students' digital identity and reputation, engage in safe and positive behavior, respect and understand the rights of using and sharing intellectual property, and manage their personal data to maintain their digital privacy and security. Digital citizenship is identified as one of the EdTech anchor standards in WA state developed from the national ISTE standards. The Digital Citizen means students recognize the responsibilities and opportunities for positively contributing to their digital communities.
Students manage their digital identity and understand the lasting impact of their online behaviors on themselves and others and make safe, legal and ethical decisions in the digital world.
Students demonstrate empathetic, inclusive interactions online and use technology to responsibly contribute to their communities.
Students safeguard their well-being by being intentional about what they do online and how much time they spend online.
Students take action to protect their digital privacy on devices and manage their personal data and security while online.
